1. Understanding the Experiences and Outcomes

  • How do the draft experiences and outcomes build upon your current practice?
  • What contexts could you use to deliver the draft experiences and outcomes?
  • What knowledge, experiences and skills could be delivered within the experiences and outcomes?
  • Are the draft technologies experiences and outcomes clearly worded?
  • How could the purposes and principles of Curriculum for Excellence be developed through the draft experiences and outcomes?
  • Are there any specific draft experiences and outcomes that you feel would benefit from further elaboration to clarify expectations?
  • What do you see as the main strengths of the draft technologies experiences and outcomes?
  • Are there any aspects of current best practice in the technologies that you feel are not addressed by the draft experiences and outcomes?
  • Do the draft experiences and outcomes allow for the development of vocational skills?
  • Do the draft technologies experiences and outcomes provide opportunities for children and young people to develop an understanding of how their learning will help them in their future lives?

2. Progression

  • Are the concepts and skills being introduced at the appropriate level? 
  • Are the expectations of the draft technologies experiences and outcomes suitably challenging at each level?
  • Is the progression clear?  
  • Do the draft technologies experiences and outcomes provide opportunities to promote good teaching approaches and deep learning?
  • Overall, do the draft experiences and outcomes provide a good basis for planning how children and young people will progress in their learning in the technologies?

3. Collaboration 

  • In what ways will a leadership role, by yourself and others, be needed to take these draft experiences and outcomes forward?
  • Do the draft technologies experiences and outcomes provide opportunities for effective links with other areas of the curriculum?
  • In what ways do the draft experiences and outcomes make the connection with the world of work?
  • Are there elements of the draft experiences and outcomes that are relevant to vocational learning?
  • Do the draft experiences and outcomes support active learning, collaboration and working with others?
  • What professional development may be needed to help the implementation of the draft technologies experiences and outcomes?

The overarching experiences are linked closely to the four capacities and should be used to help to plan a wide and rich range of learning activities to develop skills in the technologies. The overarching experiences should be read in conjunction with the outcomes for the technologies.
